Hopi Ear Candling
Hopi ear candling, also known as Thermo Auricular Therapy, is an ancient form, ancient tradition stretching back centuries when folk healers all over the world used the therapy in one form or another.
Its name is taken from the Hopi Indians of North Arizona, USA and means 'peaceful people'.

Treatment
Before you have your Hopi Ear Candling treatment you will be given a full consultation and examination of the ears and will also be asked a number of questions regarding any problems that you may have with your ears.
This to help assess whether Hopi candling will be a safe treatment for you to have and to find out what your expectations of the treatment are.
Following a consultation, you will lay fully clothed on your side on the therapy couch with aromatherapy oils and candles burning, and soft music playing to help you to relax.
The Hopi candle will be gently placed just inside the ear canal and lit.
The candle will be held firmly in place to prevent any of the ash from falling in or around the ear.
You will experience a fire crackling sound as the candle burns and possibly some popping of the ear.
You will also feel a gentle massaging sensation to the ear drum and some heat as the candle burns lower.
When the candle has burned it is carefully removed from the ear and extinguished.
The entire process is then repeated for the other ear.
Once both ears have been treated you will be left to relax for a few minutes before receiving a soothing face and neck massage.
The treatment lasts approximately an hour, but the first session will take longer due to the consultation.
Although anyone can be treated with Hopi Ear Candles there are cases where Hopi Candles should not be used.
The contra-indications for Hopi Ear candling are -
Infection of the ear
Inflammation of the ear
Surgery on the ear within the last 3 months
Perforation of the ear drum
Lack of ear drum
Auricular cysts
Grommets, drains or ventilation tubes fitted
Known allergy to candle wax
