Indian Head Massage

Indian Head Massage was developed in India over a thousands year ago. It is very much an integrated part of Indian culture, being performed within families (providing families with relaxation and healing on a daily basis, as well as playing a part in rituals such as weddings and births)

at markets, on the beach and in barbers and hairdressing shops. Many Indian people consider Indian Head Massage as an important part of preserving the colour and condition of their long, dark hair. It also uses pressure (marma) points, related to traditional Indian holistic medicine, ayerveda, so can have a pronounced therapeutic effect

Indian Head Massage is based on the ancient Ayurvedic healing system using the upper Chakras. Head Massage not only proves an invaluable treatment, it also helps relieve stress related problems including: headaches, eyestrain and neck and shoulder stiffness. The head more than any other part of our body represents who we are. It is the centre of our nervous system, and home to our identity and intelligence. The Chakra at the top of our head (Crown Chakra) is the one we use to communicate with our higher self. If our head feels good, we feel good.

The skull is covered with a thin layer of muscle which tightens when we are feeling tense, resulting in a headache and/or feelings of anxiety. By relaxing the muscles, a head massage can improve blood flow, alleviate anxiety and relax your whole body. There are energy centres in the region of the shoulders, upper back, neck, upper arms and face, the treatment of which can benefit the whole body. A combination of rhythmic strokes will soothe and rebalance the energy flow, creating feelings of ease and peace.
In addition this massage reduces stress levels, improves skin tone, increases alertness, stimulates the mind, improves sleep, strengthens hair, eliminates toxins
